Dean P. Mellas, P.A.-C
Physician Assistant - Certified
Dean P. Mellas, P.A.-C is a licensed Surgical Physician Assistant in the state of New Jersey. He received his training at the State University of New York and Stony Brook. He works closely with patients both pre-operatively and post-operatively and has embraced the role of patient educator. Additionally, he is an Assistant Surgeon to Dr. Vadim Gritsus. He enjoys working in bariatrics and developing a therapeutic alliance with all patients.

Linda McFarlane, Office Manager
In August of 2003, Linda joined Advanced Surgical Solutions, LLC as Office Manager. She brings with her more than 30 years of medical administrative experience and welcomes the opportunity to share her learned knowledge with our patients and practice. She feels that her position in the field of bariatrics has been the most fulfilling and rewarding position she has held. She credits this to the fact that our patients are very appreciative of the care, attention and support that is provided by the entire staff.
In August of 2003, Linda joined Advanced Surgical Solutions, LLC as Office Manager. Kelly Jones, Billing Representative
Kelly joined our practice in October of 2005 to assist us in our Patient Accounts and Insurance Claims areas. Although she has one of the most difficult positions in our practice and her responsibilities range from billing to assisting us with front desk coverage, she is our patient account liaison for patients who have unpaid account balances. In addition, Kelly also takes care of all insurance claim denials, resubmissions and/or patient appeals. Kelly will also work our Patient Orientation Seminars in the Dorothy B. Kraft Center, Collins Pavilion or Pequannock locations as needed. She has become an integral part of our practice and is there to assist our patients will all billing matters.

Jeanne Chacon, Receptionist
Jeanne joined our practice in July of 2007 and is there to assist our patients in seminar registration, scheduling of consultations and follow-up appointments, in-office registration and confirmation of appointments. Although she has only been with us a short time, she has done an outstanding job in attempting to familiarize herself with our policy and procedure in an attempt to make our patients feel comfortable when entering our office. You will have the opportunity to meet Jeanne in our Pequannock Office as well as our Paramus Office as our Front Desk Receptionist, but Jeanne will also be found at our Patient Orientation Seminars in the Collins Pavilion and/or our Pequannock Office. Jeanne will do her best to make you feel welcome upon your arrival.

JoAnn Mergola, Surgical Coordinator
JoAnn recently joined our practice as our new Surgical Coordinator, since Cathy has retired! She brings with her over 30 years of combined medical office experience. Although this is her first experience with surgical scheduling, she has been doing a great job assisting our patients and answering their insurance authorization questions. All patients who come to our practice for surgery, either bariatric or general, will have the opportunity to meet Joann. She will be there to guide you throughout the surgical process which will include the insurance predetermination, precertification and all medical clearance matters. She is a pleasant and understanding individual who will do her very best to accommodate your needs!

Sue (as she likes to be called) just joined our staff In July of 2008. Although she came to us from a local medical facility, this position is somewhat of a change for her. Patients who need to schedule follow-up office visits and/or Lap-BAND adjustments will have an opportunity to meet Sue. She is eager to learn about her new responsibilities and has already done quite a job in just her short time here!
