Making Gastric Sleeve surgery even less painful.
Current progress in surgical technique is aimed at making the surgery as less traumatic and painful as possible.
We are constantly working on improving our approach and making sure that pain is minimal after gastric sleeve surgery.
- 1. Having less pain allows patients to breathe deeply, avoiding pneumonia
- 2. Having less pain allows patients to walk as soon as 1 hour after surgery, reducing chance of blood clots
- 3. Having less pain reduces the amount of stress hormones in the body and promotes healing
- 4. Having less pain reduces time off from work
Making incisions as small as possible is crucial in reducing pain.
However, in sleeve gastrectomy a large part of the stomach is being removed and extracted from the body. Typically it requires a larger incision which can hurt significantly.
In 2014 we reported our innovative surgical technique which enables us to extract the removed stomach from a tiny incision. To date, hundreds of our patients underwent their sleeve gastrectomy via this technique and we are happy to report that the results have been nothing short of amazing!
While pain sensitivity varies among patients, most of our patients report minimal pain several hours after surgery and take almost no pain medications on the following day.
