A simple protein smoothie
Many patients have asked me for tips on smoothie recipes to have following weight loss surgery. One recipe I recommend as being easy (only 2 easy-to-find ingredients) and healthy only requires a good quality blender to mix:
For 1 serving, add to a blender:
- 1 cup Silk light vanilla soy milk (available at most grocery stores).
- 2 scoops vanilla flavored whey protein powder (I like the one from Trader Joe’s) handful of ice.
- 1 serving has 200 calories, 4 g fat, 18 g total carbohydrates, and 24 g protein.
For variety, have fun trying the following additions: strawberries, peanut or almond butter, bananas, instant coffee, cinnamon, cocoa powder.
